The Troodos Mountains are home to three unique wine routes.  You will be able to taste the wine produced at each stop on this route. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is nothing better than sipping wine in the fresh, cool air of Troodos Mountains. The deep, pungent smell of fresh cut pine trees fills your lungs with each sip. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wine has been a staple of the Mediterranean diet for centuries. The wine trade was introduced to Cyprus 6,000 years ago by the Greeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We can’t forget about the local brandy, which is just as good as its French counterpart. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ‘wine valleys’ or Krasochoria<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

These beautiful mountains are a great place to explore. You shouldn\u2019t miss visiting their 20 wineries. It will give you a unique chance to see how this ancient craft has evolved over time. You can also learn about their history from residents who have been producing wine for generations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The traditional wine-making villages are an awesome place to find some excellent wines. Some most visited include Kolossi, Erimi, Souni, and Kato Platres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Villages are the perfect place to live in if you’re looking for a slower paced lifestyle and more natural beauty. In these beautiful villages you can also find affordable properties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The villages in Cyprus are known for their commitment to preserving traditional culture and history. Be sure to try the locals smoked lountza with their special cheese. The locals of the villages will tell you which finger foods go best with your wine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. The Pitsilia region<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This is a great place for tasting wine. The Troodos Mountains are a series of mountain ranges that run parallel to the Mediterranean coast. The highest point in this area reaches 3,000 feet above sea level. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

You have a 360-degree view of the surrounding landscape, with pretty vineyards and pine trees. The vineyards themselves are also beautiful to look at. They are especially beautiful when the unique white and red Cyprus grapes are in season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You will see that the locals are well-practiced in the art of vine cultivation. These wines have been enjoyed for thousands of years. They remind us of the vineyards in France.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The wines of this village and the surrounding area have won international wine awards. It is not surprising that these vineyards produce high-quality beverages. The flavors of them are rich and match their scenic surroundings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. The Commandaria region<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The villages around Troodos Mountain make up the Commandaria region. The Commandaria wine is made from sun dried red and white grapes. This gives the wine an intense, dark color. It has a sweet, fruity, and natural flavor. You should only visit one of these villages in Commandaria because the locals are very generous and tend to give you a lot of wine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The name \u2018Commandaria\u2019 comes from the main area where it was produced. It is known as “La Grande Commanderie”. The first wine competition was held there by King Philip Augustus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When you taste the Commandaria, the locals will offer local halloumi and lountza. You can also enjoy their preserved watermelon rinds or orange peel as sweet treats. These are dried and preserved in a syrup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other villages in this area include popular destinations such as Agios Mamas, Apsiou and Kalo Chorio. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. Keo brewery in Limassol<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

And last, but certainly not least, is Cypriot beer! It\u2019s called \u2018Keo\u2019. It’s unlike any other brew you have tried before, and we think it deserves some recognition as well. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Keo factory is in Limassol. There it produced its first beer and continues to operate today. The distillery has since expanded to include fruit juice production and Keo brandy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The factory is definitely worth a visit. The guided tour gives you an interesting chance to see how beer production works. Keo beer is a true gem. It was even awarded the Queen\u2019s Award for the best beer in 1982. Believe me, the taste of this refreshing, golden beer is just what you need on a hot summer day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For many years, Carlsberg beer was produced in factories on the island of Cyprus. The taste of the two beers was exactly alike. However, the production of Carlsberg’s lager beer was then stopped in Cyprus. The original Carlsberg beer is still imported to the island. You can find it at hotels or restaurants alongside Keo beer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
